Le Who's who des cowboys chantants
Les cowboys chantants, les singing cowboys, ont marqué - des années 30 aux années 50 - aussi bien le monde de la chanson westernienne que celui du cinéma. Les thèmes des films dans lesquels apparaissaient les singing cowboys étaient souvent les mêmes : défense d'un ranch ou d'une petite ville contre des bandits, protection de la veuve et de l'orphelin, intervention du beau cowboy qui, à la fin de l'épisode, partait dans le soleil couchant avec - ou sans - la jolie jeune fille. Une autre époque ? Pas vraiment. Et l'on a tous dans le coeur cette séquence de Rio Bravo où, dans le bureau du shérif, Ricky Nelson, John Wayne, Dean Martin et Walter Brennan entonnent Rio Bravo et My Rie, My PonyAnd Me. Mais tout décolle vraiment dans les années 30. À partir du moment où les chansons deviennent parties intégrantes des westerns. On porte au compte de l'une de ces cowboys-stars, Ken Maynard, le crédit de ce mariage - entre les films de cowboys et les chansons du même métal. Le singing cowboy, est devenu une institution. Il est la dernière incarnation d'un idéal américain : le cow-boy bagarreur, simple et travailleur, en tant que héros moral. Après tout, les sales types ne chantent pas.

Le who's who du rugby à XIII
Ce livre liste tous ceux qui ont fait le rugby, en particulier le XIII, qui lui, est né en 1895, quand les joueurs du Nord de l'Angleterre firent récession, demandant à être rémunérés pour permettre une meilleure préparation. A la même époque, le football qui se jouait à XIII, a réussi à réduire le nombre à 11 joueurs sans pour autant créer une scission. En 1906, les rugbymen dissidents et leurs dirigeants décidèrent de se fédérer et créèrent la "football rugby league" ramenant ainsi le nombre de joueurs de XV à XIII. Le rugby à XIII venait de naître. Dans ce livre se succèdent des références historiques, les rapports avec les puissances publiques et surtout l'histoire de cette formidable aventure née en 1934, quand Jean Galia implanta le rugby à XIII en France. Notre équipe nationale fut championne d'Europe en 1939 mais en 1940, le rugby à XIII fut interdit et tous les joueurs de XIII durent se convertir au XV pendant la guerre. En 1944, ils durent s'appeler "jeu à XIII" pour continuer à exister et l'appellation de "rugby" ne sera rendue à ce sport qu'en 1993.

Foundation Course for Advanced Computer Studies
In the modern world, computer systems are playing a greater and greater part in everyday life. From office work, to entertainment, to providing information, the personal computer is quickly becoming a more integral part of the home. However, most PC users have no idea how most of the parts which make up their computer work internally. I am one of those who find that the framework provided by the school curriculum in the United Kingdom is of great assistance in planning lessons and learning plans but the curriculum does not plan out the work for us. We therefore need to invest a lot of time and effort into developing schemes of work that will suit the people we are going to teach. For me, it is a fantastic opportunity to employ our imagination and creativity to make lessons useful and interesting for children of different abilities. It is why I wrote this book. This book is a foundation course for Advanced Computer Studies and designed as a blueprint to teach users with a basic knowledge of computer science. Computer science is a subject that combines the use of technology which is ICT (Information Communication Technology) and the creation of technology. To use ICT (the subject about how to use technology to communicate information) more effectively, we need to know how technology works. Computing or computer science will create a generation of young people able to work at the forefront of technology change. It is the umbrella term for the subject that comprises 3 elements : computer science, information technology and digital literacy. It is helpful to think of these as the foundations, applications and implications of digital technology. The new focus on computer science will provides a well-defined and rigorous academic discipline and a unique lens through which pupils can understand the world. Children must therefore be taught computing if they are to be ready for tomorrow technology challenges. Our ingenuity to invent new means of communicating with each other, our very human compulsion to communicate have driven the technological innovations of the past two centuries however still a lot remain to be done with the arrival of quantum computing. A more rigorous approach to computer science teaching will help compete across the full spectrum of digital industries. This can only be achieved by equipping ourselves with the foundation skills, knowledge and understanding of computing do the necessity to introduce "computational thinking" at school via the new national curriculum (programmes of study and targets), the 2014 national curriculum that introduces computing which will replace ICT.

Roger Daltrey, Keith Moon et Pete Townsend (pour ne citer qu'eux) sont décidemment de véritables précurseurs d'un rock britannique proche du pub rock, voire de la brit pop. Près de 60 ans de moulinets sur la guitare, la musique des Who a transcendé les générations, avec un véritable regain lors des diffusions des différentes séries des Experts. Les Who sortent également du cadre stricto-sensu du rock'n'roll, et incarnent le mouvement "Mod" britannique, qui connaît encore aujourd'hui, un véritable engouement de la jeunesse rock.

Pendant des années, Herbert Maier s'est rendu dans les lieux et les régions les plus divers, au Pakistan, en Inde, au Népal, au Mexique, au Guatemala, aux USA, en Israël, en Iran et dans les zones tribales d'Afrique occidentale. Sa bibliothèque visuelle est étroitement liée à ces voyages. Les rencontres avec d'autres et l'enregistrement de leurs témoignages artistiques et culturels dans sa mémoire d'images imaginaires sont devenus aussi importants pour lui que la confrontation à l'histoire de l'art occidentale. Herbert Maier travaille à cette encyclopédie depuis 2009, elle renferme aujourd'hui plus de 500 aquarelles. Car seule l'aquarelle, la transparence et la légèreté qui lui sont propres, permet de réaliser un aussi grand nombre d'images en si peu de temps.

Activation Policies for the Unemployed, the Right to Work and the Duty to Work
Since the 1990s and the 2000s, Western social protection systems have experienced a turn towards activation. This turn consists of the multiplication of measures aimed at bringing those who are unemployed closer to participation in the labour market. These measures often induce a strengthening of the conditions that must be met in order to receive social benefits. It is in this well known context that the authors gathered in this book decided to take a closer look at the relationship between activation policies for the unemployed and the right and the duty to work. If activation measures are likely to increase transitions towards the labour market, we can also make the assumption that they may, particularly when they are marked with the seal of coercion, hinder or dramatically reduce the right to freely chosen work. In such circumstances, the realisation of the "right to work", which is often stated to be the aim of those who promote activation, tends in practice to be reduced to an increasing pressure being exerted on the unemployed. In this case, isn't it actually the duty to work that is particularly reinforced ? After an historical and philosophical perspective on the issue, this assumption is confronted with the developments observed in the United States and in France, and then with the guidelines laid down in international human rights instruments. What follows is a discussion of two alternatives to the dominant activation model : the basic income guarantee and the employment guarantee.

The television medium has reached the heights of complication. This complication is the aftereffect of the fact that broadcasting in itself (both TV and Radio) recognizes little or no boundaries. Broadcasting breaks the boundaries of, inter alia, political, cultural, linguistic, socio-economical and socio-psychological identities. It reaches extensive "possibilities" embracing, collecting and connecting nationalities and people, languages and cultures. This situation must continue to raise the question why such a global-transcontinental and transnational communications' "inter-flux". This work is in this context an aid towards possible solutions of the present question on the TV-medium. The interest of this work can be said to be the presentation of facts that brought Anambra State of Nigeria to this "embrace" of the world's extensive television technology.

Mike Evans signe ici une biographie (très richement) illustrée, de référence, sur un groupe de rock anglais mythique : The Who. Emené par Roger Daltrey, le guitariste Pete Townshend, les regrettés John Entwistle (bassiste) et Keith Moon (batteur, réputé "mauvais garçon"), le groupe fait ses débuts en 1964 et est encore actif aujourd'hui, après bien des péripéties. La biographie est chronologique et les illustrations présentent les nombreux concerts de légende, enregistrements, vie privée, répétitions, couvertures d'albums, tickets de concert, destructions d'instruments, rencontres avec Jimi Hendrix, Mick Jagger... What do Christopher Columbus, Reneke, Zénobe Gramme and Louis Pasteur have in common ? They were all inventors. Well fine, but who invented the crab's claw, the suction cups and the flight of squids or the proboscis of blood sucking insects ? Is invention intellectual fantasy, an industrial tool or a fundamental biological reaction ? How is this riddle to be solved ? Should we go through the list of inventions or inventors ? Is it a question of circumstances or motivations ? Who is in charge ? The Material or the Spirit ? In order to try to find a way of answering these questions, first a few very different inventors and their inventions will be presented. A few paradoxes emerge from this first part. Then we will devote an entire chapter to an exceptional inventor whose extraordinary work revolutionized how we now approach this topic. Finally, what can be said about all the inventions like the wings of birds or butterflies, the eyes of fish or insects, the leaves of trees or the social organization of beehives ? In these cases, man is not the inventor. There are countless marvels like these in the world around us. Can we explain them ? This will be the subject of the third part of this essay.

The review of the OHADA accounting system symbol of the evolution towards IFRS standards was the focus of this study. It is about understanding how business leaders perceive the evolution from OHADA standards to IFRS standards. To conduct this study, we opted for a qualitative approach. As a result, we did semi-direct interviews with twenty-five business leaders in Cameroun (18 Cameroonian business leaders and 7 multinational business leaders). The data collected was exploited through content analysis via NVivo10 software. However, the results show that the accounting innovations of SYSCOHADA allow the production and communication of more relevant accounting and financial information for users. Likewise, managers of multinational companies believe that OHADA must fully converge towards IFRS. This perception is contrast to that of Cameroonian business leaders who cite the contextual contrast as the main obstacle and therefore taking into account the specificities of this contrast will be an asset for full convergence towards IFRS.
